My Reflective Review of 2011

Posted in Articles, happiness, Life Challenges, Personal Development, Setting up a business.

Like me, you’ll be reviewing your achievements of 2011.  It’s so important to look back at them, revisit and enjoy the memories, to celebrate them and to take the learnings of the year.  What are you most proud of, what’s the icing on the top of the cake for you?  What could you have done differently?  What have you gained?  What or who have you let go of?  What was your biggest learning about yourself?  Who were the key players this year who made a significant impact on you?

As I reflect back I remember that by the end of 2010 was beginning to feel uneasy.  I was continuing to work hard and yet the results were not showing up in my business fast enough.  I had some full workshops and 1:1 clients although I wondered if I needed to find a ‘proper’ job (perhaps return to my recruitment industry roots) and yet I really didn’t want to.  My calling to serve women, to support them in their greatness was so strong.  I knew that I had to keep focused, not allow fear to take over take what I am here to do.

I have invested so much in my own learning since 2004 with mentors, coaches, seminars, conferences, bootcamps as well as books, audios and training dvds.  What was slowing me down was that some of what I’d learned conflicted greatly with my own authenticity and it was on my mind so much of the time.  My thoughts were affecting my progress.  Have you ever felt that?  It was like pushing away from the side of the swimming pool as I decided to break away from what did not fit with my own values and to step further into my own truth.  Choosing to love and let go of the people who I was not in alignment with and instead be true to myself, honour my clients authentically. This move felt bold, empowering yet scary at the same time!  Having said this, I was so grateful for all the learnings and experience as it supported me to gain clarity on my own values, my purpose, who my clients are and how I can honour and support them to step into their greatness.  Does this resonate with you?

It was time to step up big and take the empowering practices that I’d learned and integrate them in with my intentions!  One of my dreams for some years was to set up a self development group for women and I decided to stop procrastinating and take a giant leap out of my comfort zone.  At the beginning of March, I launched a self development group for women in High Wycombe called Fab Friends Network.  Some wonderful women joined my membership group and began making great changes in their lives.  I was asked to appear on another local radio station and many speaking bookings came flowing my way.  Creating videos raised my visibility and pushed me further out of my comfort zone.  More clients connected with me – my authentic self, and knew I could support them to get great results.  I chose not to become distracted from my path and launched a VIP Group for 5 women in September, who I work with at a higher level, this group is called the Butterfly Circle and we meet each month for a day of learning, sharing and mentoring.   And a second Fab Friends Network group was launched in Basingstoke, Hampshire in October.  It was very exciting to have two new websites built www.alisoleil.com and www.fabfriendsnetwork.com.  The year unfolded beautifully with happiness, integrity and life lessons of trusting, surrendering, self belief and focus.

My clients have inspired and delighted me with their transformations, decisions, dreams and support. They have made such tremendous progress, I feel privileged to work with every single beautiful soul.  I’ve also met some hugely inspiring women mentors this year who have taught me so much and guided me to make authentic decisions in my business – and life.  I’ve been fortunate to attend some eye and heart opening workshops and talks in London with inspiring speakers such as Byron Katie, Sonia Choquette and Dr Michael Beckwith.   I also met my partner Andrew who has been a very important person in my life this year.  He has been so fantastic at loving me whilst allowing me to focus on my business.  Supporting and listening to me when I’ve been unsure of my challenging leaps, reassuring me and putting up with me when I’ve been a bit stressy!  Both my daughters have supported me at home and in my business, Becky has attended every Fab Friends meeting this year – which has been so helpful to me and a great learning for her!

It certainly has been a year of  huge leaps of faith, some big shifts in my thinking and most of all walking my talk.

I’ve learned that it’s so important to surround myself with a supportive peer group who encourage me to be the best I can be – to be authentic, to believe in myself, to ask for help, not to compare myself with others, keep on my path and not be persuaded off it or distracted by the ‘rocks’ in the road.  And above all to feel happy :)   Hanging in there, keeping motivated – believing in myself and my ‘gifts’ has really changed my circumstances enormously, the snowball is rolling and I’m in such a different place to where I began the year.  I start 2012 full of excitement and can’t wait to allow it all to unfold, surprise and delight me.

I would love to hear about your year, what you’ve faced and overcome.  What learnings you’ve taken and of the joys and delights that have been the icing on the cake for you!  And if you’d like some support to make your 2012 your best year ever, send me an email ali@alisoleil.com and we can have an informal chat to see how we can work together and make that happen, it will be my privilege.

Have a great New Year!

Love and celebrations

Let’s Set Your 2012 Intentions!

Posted in Articles, Christmas, Goal Setting, gratitude, happiness, Perfect Days, Personal Development.

Here we are almost at the start of 2012 – the beginning of a new year of success, adventure and possibility!

Many people begin to plan in January for their year ahead – holidays, new car, new home and house extensions and I wonder how many people give the same amount of time to planning their life?

Looking at glossy holiday brochures is wonderful, you can escape the cold and rain and imagine being on a beach for a week or two,  feeling free and relaxed but I wonder if you ever spend time the same amount of time or more imagining your life and really planning what you want to achieve, how you want to grow as a person.   Life is a journey – do you want to be the driver or the passenger?  Do you want to choose an interesting, scenic and exciting route or leave it to chance and have a snooze in the back?

Often we make short term plans – fun interruptions in our lives; we dot in the holidays and the things that give us excitement or something to look forward to – but how would it be if we made a decision to plan a bit further ahead?  Rather than life developing and us existing, we can choose to make things happen the way we design them instead of leaving it all up to chance?

This is your life.  You want the best for your family and friends – why not for yourself?

How to set your Intentions and Personal Promises for 2012

1st Step

Choose a time when you are feeling peaceful, relaxed.  Free of interruption.  Get yourself in a positive state, open to possibilities.  Write a list of things of what you are proud to have achieved during 2011.  List them down and quietly reflect on them.  Feel the feelings of achievement bubbling up and allow yourself to celebrate every success, big or small!

2nd Step

What did you do during 2011 that was the ‘icing on the cake?’  Make a list.  What gave you your greatest sense of joy?  Who was there?  What happened?  How did it make you feel?  What photographs do you treasure of those moments?  Go and have a look at them… and relive the feelings, sounds and sights…

3rd Step

Think about the areas in your life that are important – list them down eg career, environment, personal development, fun & recreation, relationship with friends/family, significant other, spirituality etc.  Consider where you are with each right now, today.  Give each one a score out of 10, with 1 being low and 10 being high.  How would you score your satisfaction with each area?

4th Step

Think about how you would like to change each area – what would make it a 10?  What would ‘10’ be like for you?  How would it feel?  Close your eyes if it helps… imagine, dream… design… paint a picture in your imagination of how you’re choose to change things.  Imagine if Aladdin’s genie gave you 3 wishes… how would you use them to change your life?  What if you had more than 3 wishes, how would you use them?  Drift into your imagination, what can you hear, what can you smell, taste?  Who is there?  What are they doing?  How bright is the picture?  Turn up the colour… adjust the volume so it’s right.  What difference would it make to your life?  How would it affect your relationships?

5th Step

Put the list in an order of priority.  Which area of your life needs action most urgently?  When would you like to have this achieved by?  Set dates for the other areas, being realistic – but being true to you.

6th Step

What is the first step to achieving your intentions and personal promises?  Who can help you?  What resources do you need?  Where can you get these?  What additional learning do you need?  Where can you find out about this?  When are you going to begin?  How important is this intention?

7th Step

Why are you doing this?  What is motivating you? If you do not have a big enough reason ‘why,’ you will find yourself falling off the wagon… like many new year resolutions people make, it will be overlooked and your life will be left to chance once more.  How do you want to feel when you look back in 10 years and remember the dreams you once had, that you didn’t ‘bother’ to achieve?  Decide how important this is to you, your family – choose to make it a priority in your life.

8th Step

Who will you share your intentions with?  Be careful here.  I have found that if we are too free with our excitement about how we’re designing our lives – others do not always support us and try to prick our bubble.  Sometimes, friends and family like life to be the way it is and that’s that.  They do not want anything to change.  It can be that they do not want to see us start something and then fail.  If they love us they will want to protect us.  Others may think it’s best for us to take a more conventional route or do things the way they did.  Each person is a unique individual with their own set of life situations and challenges.  If we listen to and take on board negative comments of others, we’re bound to struggle to achieve our intentions.  We must have belief in ourselves, determination and adopt a success strategy that works for us.  We must be clear about why we’re doing this and what the outcome will be.  Share your intentions with people who will support you, encourage you and be inspired by you.  Keep focusing on the ‘why’ and the positive outcome.  Deciding to have a coach can be crucial to your success – a coach will keep you on track, will believe in you and will encourage you to dig deep to find the solutions to your action steps.  It is a powerful union.

9th Step

What will you do to remind yourself daily of your intentions and your commitment to yourself?  Some clients of mine choose to write themselves a statement which they keep in their wallet or handbag which they look at each day.  It could be something such as:

“It is 3rd January 2013 and I am sitting on my porch of my dream French house with my loving partner, watching the sun setting over the mountains.  We are sipping champagne and planning our next holiday together.  We feel healthy, safe and secure.  I live in abundance of all good things and my life is perfect.”

It is important that this statement is personal, set in the future with a date and conjures up the feeling you will have once you are living the life you’ve designed.

Some of my clients choose to design a ‘dream board’ which is board covered with cut out pictures of how their life is going to be, what they will have, what they will be doing or what’s important to them.  Also words that inspire them to dream big and take action.  They will look at the board every morning and every night – looking at the pictures and choose to imagine the feelings of having those things now.  This is an incredibly powerful way of speeding up the intention process – ideas will come to you during the night as your mind continues to dream while you’re asleep – you will wake up often with new ideas of how you will make this intention your reality.

10th Step

Each month, ideally on the first week day or weekend look at your intention list.  Look at what you’ve achieved.  Praise yourself and celebrate.  Feel good about how you’ve moved forward.  The changes you can see now, the way this makes you feel.  How your positive actions are affecting your state of mind.  Decided what the next step will be to getting to your intention.  What you need to do, who you need to speak to and put a date on the action – when will this be achieved by?

Intention/Personal Promise Summary

Okay, so imagine… In ten years time, how would you like to be living?  If you were to look back at this decade what would you like to be able to say you’d achieved, ticked off your dream list or experienced?   You’ll be ten years older… go on, you can do the maths.  I heard something recently that really got me thinking – he said, imagine you’re about to meet your maker – you’re standing at the gates of heaven and the angel says to you “Wow, I’ve heard about the Great Wall of China, the pyramids of Egypt, Hanging Gardens of Babylon, Stonehenge, Grand Canyon! Wow what are they like?” and you turn to him and say “Oh I don’t know, I never went there… but I can tell you what happened on EastEnders last week!”

Let’s make 2012 not just a New Year but a Fantastic New Year!  A year where you make some positive shifts, feel fulfilled, and achieve the success (whatever that means to you) that you’ve always wanted.

I will have only one new opening for a new one to one mentoring/coaching client in January 2012l  Are you feeling ready to take some massive action and make 2012 your BEST year so far?  Send me an email to ali@alisoleil.com and let’s have an informal chat about how you can have your best year yet!

Wishing you a very very Happy New Year!

Love and smiles

Stop The Clocks, It’s Time To ‘Be’ – Join Me?

November was a very busy month for me, how about you?  Sometimes when we realise that we’ve been working too hard, it’s too late – we’re already depleted of energy, feeling drained.   It’s like the red warning light on the fuel gauge has been on for too long in your car and you know you’re running on vapours.  The offer of a long weekend in the South of France was a blessing although I wondered if I really had time to be away.  Does that sound too familiar?   There are always reasons not to do go away – lack of time, money, work (except I love what I do!) and all the other things to ‘do’, not to mention the Christmas shopping….  One of my friends booked her ticket to stay with our friend Julia and asked when I was going to book mine…. mmm…. a gentle reminder, it’s time.

As women, traditionally we tend to put our own needs last and a gentle reminder is welcome when we forget.   So I booked my ticket a return flight to the South of France for £39!  Bargain!   And at the start of December, my coaching friend Hilary and I set off to meet our friend Julia who owns a Chateau Ventenac and our long weekend began.  We left the cold, rain and drizzle at Luton Airport for the sunnier, more carefree climes of Beziers Airport one hour and 20 minutes away!

Isn’t it amazing how we can be running at 100 miles an hour and have a gazillion things to ‘do’ urgently and yet when the distance separates us from the ‘stuff’ to do, we can feel distance from the stresses?  Maybe that’s just me?   I could literally feel the pressures and stresses melt off me, and fall away.  I began to relax, slow down, and went from ‘doing’ to ‘being’ very quickly.  Sitting on Julia’s terrace without a coat in December, gazing across the Canal du Midi, across the miles and miles of vineyards and nestling on the horizon the Pyrannes mountains sat amongst the fluffy clouds.  It was purrrrrfect!  I couldn’t have felt more at home, more relaxed and more at peace… heaven.

When was the last time you really stopped what you were doing and took some ‘me time’?  Stopped what you were doing and went somewhere different?  Even though you felt under pressure, chose to chill out?  Being with my two good friends gave me the chance to unwind, catch up on their news and share some of my news too.  We laughed, dreamed, wandered, contributed, sat by a crackling open fire and even watched X Factor with a glass of something red and giggly!

Since being back, I’ve been more productive, had more fun, slept better and it feels like I’ve been on a long holiday!  It is truly wonderful.  So a few days out really can make a huge difference… When are you going to give yourself some time out?  Do it!  Go on!   Whilst I was at Chateau Ventenac I reflected on 2011 and made some decisions about 2012.  Have you begun considering what you’d like to achieve in 2012?  Exciting isn’t it?

Whilst I was away, I really wished I could share the gorgeous landscape, the beautiful chateau and the time out with my wonderful clients, I know that you too could do with some time to recharge and reflect.  So, I mentioned this to Julia who runs her Chateau as a retreat/workshop business, if I could book a week in October 2012 – and guess what?  It’s happening!  I can’t wait to share more about this with you and I’ll be posting some information about it on this website soon, so keep checking back! :)  It would be great to share this time with you, making some life transformations and relaxing too.  If you’d like to see more of Chateau Ventenac please stop by Julia’s website http://www.chateauventenac.com.

Opportunity Knocks – Will You Let It In?

When opportunity knocks on your door – what happens for you?

If it’s something you’ve been wanting, you may feel an urge to “woohoo!” I know I do!

But what if it’s an opportunity that feels so fantastic it feels beyond your reach?  What happens then?  When you feel the stretch, do you feel butterflies stirring in your stomach?  The dreaded inner gremlin telling you, you don’t deserve?  A sense of mixed emotion like a tug of war – of wanting but not wanting to fail?   To look stupid or to make a mistake?

Sometimes that old feeling of not feeling quite good enough, or not deserving enough can creep into your thinking and you have to stop in your tracks and ask yourself what is really going on.  Do you do that too?  Sometimes it maybe money; the opportunity is there but money isn’t?  You attract what you focus on – not having enough, means you stay in lack.  When you step up and show up – you grow.  When you embrace opportunity, more opportunities show up and this often includes the money you desire and so on.  ”If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always got.”

What is fear anyway?  A negative emotion, False Evidence Appearing Real?  How real is it?  What I know is, that often it skips along in our minds with the inner gremlin.  It keeps you small, keeps you shrinking, fitting in, and dabbling around the edges of your greatness.

You are here to Shine, to Stand Out, Embrace Life, Make a Difference and Grow!

Does it make you shut out the opportunity?  Or welcome it with open arms?

So, who would you or I be without fear?  How much more could you achieve? How much more could you become?  Enjoy?  Share?  What could taking the the big leap mean to you?  What if you didn’t fail but spectacularly rose to the top?  When we focus on what we want – or what we don’t want, we get it – so when opportunity strikes, grab it, go for it, celebrate it and GROW!

2011 has been a massive year of growth personally for me, how about you?   This year, I’ve been leaping out of my comfort zone, stepping up and achieving so many of my own desires and dreams.  I’ve also had my fair share of knock backs too and I’ve got back up again and brushed myself down. Those lessons have been hugely valuable for me, lessons to do things differently so I’ll get different results next time. Now, when I feel the butterflies of fear creeping in when I’m presented with an opportunity, I remind myself this is just excitement and go for it!  There is nothing to lose and everything to gain.   You’re worth it, right?  Make this lifetime the BEST it can be! :)  Why wouldn’t you?

Love and sunshine

An Update!

Posted in Perfect Days, Personal Development.

I’ve a quick update to share with you.

I remember that for many, many years, I found myself feeling I was in the ‘wrong’ job.  One friend even described me as a pinball machine!  Always trying new things and always seeking something that make my heart sing.  Have you ever felt like that?  Something always told me that I was happiest when I was working with women, empowering them to step up and go for it (I spent years in the recruitment industry)!

Now, I know as a womens life coach and mentor, nothing gives me a greater feeling than witnessing my clients own transformations; it’s just the best feeling and I feel so privilaged to work with my clients.  If you’re still struggling to find your ‘thing’ let me know, I maybe able to support you with that!

As with all things creative, my business is organic, it’s taking it’s own shape.  I want to let you know that I’ve chosen to drop the Daring Damsels branding and use my own name.  So my website will reflect this soon!  And Fab Friends Network will have it’s own unique site – and I can’t wait to share that with you!  Both will be launched very soon.

My vision a few years ago was to create a worldwide supportive network for women and I’m so excited that new Fab Friends Network groups will be opening early next year around the UK – reaching more ladies who want to feel more fabulous, who want more from life, who are ready to ignite their passions and belong to a peer group of supportive women who will encourage them to step up and go for it!

As you know, High Wycombe Fab Friends group, is soon to have a sister group Basingstoke Fab Friends, based in Sherfield on Loddon which launches this week – on Thursday 13th in the evening!  If your name isn’t on the guest list and would like to come along, there are still a few free places – just email me. Find more information at www.fabfriendsnetwork.com

Have you been to a Fab Friends meeting?  Watch this 2 minute video to see what 3 fabulous ladies said last week as they left the High Wycombe group they did make me giggle!

So that’s all for now, I just wanted to keep you in the loop!

Have a great week and I hope to speak with you soon.

Do send me an email or call me on 07702 591288 if you’d like more information or if I can support you on your life journey.

Wishing you happiness

Are you ready to step up? Here is my offer to you

I was moved some years ago by a poem which I’d love to share with you.  You may be familiar with the words of Marianne Williamson, I’m sure if you’re like me then you won’t mind reading them again.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.  Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.  It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.  We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?  Actually, who are you not to be?  You are a child of God.  Your playing small does not serve the world.  There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.  We are all meant to shine, as children do.  We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.  It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone.  And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.  As we’re liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

I wonder how these words affect you?  I know that the first time I read them I could see how I’d been ‘fitting’ in with everyone else and was keeping myself small so I didn’t stand out, didn’t want to risk criticism from others and lacked belief in myself – I didn’t want to be seen.  Do you do this too?  My self esteem was very low.  It cost me relationships with friends and partners, I didn’t think anyone would find me interesting or my opinions.  I felt I was a disappointment to my family, was happy to spend money on my children but not on myself,  didn’t like myself very much, didn’t feel safe and was always worrying about things.  And then good news -  it began to change!  I got some coaching and mentoring!

It was like the chains that were holding me a prisoner just dropped off and I was able to step into the light, regain my self esteem, discover who I really was and began to live my purpose to the full.

Whilst I didn’t have the money, I knew I didn’t want to put my life on hold and if things stayed as they were, I’d never have the money.  I could see how much my flawed thought patterns and behaviours were costing me (and as a role model, future generations).  I knew that my happy future depended on getting some support.  I was ready to invest in myself so I borrowed some money and used my credit card.  It was the best thing I could have done to set myself free and to release the ‘real’ me again!

Having a coach to ‘hold my hand’, someone who asked me the difficult questions that I’d never asked myself, who supported and believed in me, my really accelerated my progress.  The results were tremendous!  I still have a coach and a mentor today who support me to accelerate in other areas of my life - coaching is super powerful!

Do you feel ready to step into the light too?  Have these blogs over the months been supporting you to make some changes which are creating a better life for you?

If you feel that you would like to accelerate your progress, invest in yourself and work with me on a one to one basis then I have an offer for you!  This won’t be for everyone, but if your heart is telling you this is your time, then I have only 5 spaces to take on new clients currently.  I would love to have an informal chat with you if you feel ready to shine.

Most clients choose book a series of 6 x 50 minutes weekly sessions with me as this is more effective than booking one off sessions.  Your investment in 6 sessions is £497.  However, as you are one of my loyal Damsels, I am offering you the opportunity of applying for one of these 5 places with a massive £100 off the usual price bringing this amazing offer to you at £397!!!!   My mentor thinks I’ve lost the plot as my prices will be going up in the near future, and yet I feel in my heart that I want to do this for you.  This blog will be seen many hundred ladies, many of whom have booked sessions with me in the past and who will want to snap up this bargain, so I urge you to be quick in replying.  Please email me with ‘Application for discount’ in the subject line and a short message and I’ll get back to you asap to arrange our informal, no obligation chat ali@daringdamsels.com.  This offer is only open to you for the next 7 days.

Let me know if you are ready to draw the line in the sand, to step up into the light to allow me the privilege of supporting you get your life ‘back’.

With love and happiness

What do some previous clients say about their coaching/mentoring experience with me?

“Ali’s wonderful warmth and generous spirit puts you immediately at ease. Her intuition and empathy combined with a fervent support of what makes each individual woman uniquely special leads to a coaching session that is uplifting and inspiring. Ali will not only make you realise what is great about you, but help you on a path towards realising your own unique potential.” Yiannik Bennett, Florida

“Ali immediately made me feel very comfortable and safe during our coaching session with her friendly and empathetic approach. I had been blocked for some time and was unsure how to progress forward. She skillfully changed tack when it became apparent that I was not going to respond predictably but still enabled me to feel in control at all times. Due to her spontaneous and skillful creativity, we ended up achieving far more than I would have dreamed possible. As a result of the session, I at last feel able to move forward again, helped in no small way by the strategies and exercises she has given me. I give Ali highest recommendation. Anyone who is seeking sensitive and skilled guidance in their business or personal lives would benefit greatly by seeking her help”. Laurelle Rond, England

“What is special about Ali’s coaching is her gentle and compassionate approach, along with her perceptive and intuitive insights. Through her support and her powerful questioning, I have been able to see more clearly and be more empowered. I would thoroughly recommend her to anyone who wants to make deep and significant changes in their lives. Thank you Ali for all your help!” Hilary Reeves, England

“Ali has a great manner about her. She is patient and easy to talk to and really helped me to think about my priorities and focus in life.”  Ros Kitson, England

“Ali is a wonderful, sensitive and compassionate coach and friend. She has helped me to get back in touch with my self worth and talents when I had lost sight of them, spending many years at home looking after my family. I now feel ready to move on to the next stage of my life and I am very grateful to Ali for helping me find the way.” Chris Iishin Horner, New Zealand
