My Reflective Review of 2011

Posted in Articles, happiness, Life Challenges, Personal Development, Setting up a business.

Like me, you’ll be reviewing your achievements of 2011.  It’s so important to look back at them, revisit and enjoy the memories, to celebrate them and to take the learnings of the year.  What are you most proud of, what’s the icing on the top of the cake for you?  What could you have done differently?  What have you gained?  What or who have you let go of?  What was your biggest learning about yourself?  Who were the key players this year who made a significant impact on you?

As I reflect back I remember that by the end of 2010 was beginning to feel uneasy.  I was continuing to work hard and yet the results were not showing up in my business fast enough.  I had some full workshops and 1:1 clients although I wondered if I needed to find a ‘proper’ job (perhaps return to my recruitment industry roots) and yet I really didn’t want to.  My calling to serve women, to support them in their greatness was so strong.  I knew that I had to keep focused, not allow fear to take over take what I am here to do.

I have invested so much in my own learning since 2004 with mentors, coaches, seminars, conferences, bootcamps as well as books, audios and training dvds.  What was slowing me down was that some of what I’d learned conflicted greatly with my own authenticity and it was on my mind so much of the time.  My thoughts were affecting my progress.  Have you ever felt that?  It was like pushing away from the side of the swimming pool as I decided to break away from what did not fit with my own values and to step further into my own truth.  Choosing to love and let go of the people who I was not in alignment with and instead be true to myself, honour my clients authentically. This move felt bold, empowering yet scary at the same time!  Having said this, I was so grateful for all the learnings and experience as it supported me to gain clarity on my own values, my purpose, who my clients are and how I can honour and support them to step into their greatness.  Does this resonate with you?

It was time to step up big and take the empowering practices that I’d learned and integrate them in with my intentions!  One of my dreams for some years was to set up a self development group for women and I decided to stop procrastinating and take a giant leap out of my comfort zone.  At the beginning of March, I launched a self development group for women in High Wycombe called Fab Friends Network.  Some wonderful women joined my membership group and began making great changes in their lives.  I was asked to appear on another local radio station and many speaking bookings came flowing my way.  Creating videos raised my visibility and pushed me further out of my comfort zone.  More clients connected with me – my authentic self, and knew I could support them to get great results.  I chose not to become distracted from my path and launched a VIP Group for 5 women in September, who I work with at a higher level, this group is called the Butterfly Circle and we meet each month for a day of learning, sharing and mentoring.   And a second Fab Friends Network group was launched in Basingstoke, Hampshire in October.  It was very exciting to have two new websites built www.alisoleil.com and www.fabfriendsnetwork.com.  The year unfolded beautifully with happiness, integrity and life lessons of trusting, surrendering, self belief and focus.

My clients have inspired and delighted me with their transformations, decisions, dreams and support. They have made such tremendous progress, I feel privileged to work with every single beautiful soul.  I’ve also met some hugely inspiring women mentors this year who have taught me so much and guided me to make authentic decisions in my business – and life.  I’ve been fortunate to attend some eye and heart opening workshops and talks in London with inspiring speakers such as Byron Katie, Sonia Choquette and Dr Michael Beckwith.   I also met my partner Andrew who has been a very important person in my life this year.  He has been so fantastic at loving me whilst allowing me to focus on my business.  Supporting and listening to me when I’ve been unsure of my challenging leaps, reassuring me and putting up with me when I’ve been a bit stressy!  Both my daughters have supported me at home and in my business, Becky has attended every Fab Friends meeting this year – which has been so helpful to me and a great learning for her!

It certainly has been a year of  huge leaps of faith, some big shifts in my thinking and most of all walking my talk.

I’ve learned that it’s so important to surround myself with a supportive peer group who encourage me to be the best I can be – to be authentic, to believe in myself, to ask for help, not to compare myself with others, keep on my path and not be persuaded off it or distracted by the ‘rocks’ in the road.  And above all to feel happy :)   Hanging in there, keeping motivated – believing in myself and my ‘gifts’ has really changed my circumstances enormously, the snowball is rolling and I’m in such a different place to where I began the year.  I start 2012 full of excitement and can’t wait to allow it all to unfold, surprise and delight me.

I would love to hear about your year, what you’ve faced and overcome.  What learnings you’ve taken and of the joys and delights that have been the icing on the cake for you!  And if you’d like some support to make your 2012 your best year ever, send me an email ali@alisoleil.com and we can have an informal chat to see how we can work together and make that happen, it will be my privilege.

Have a great New Year!

Love and celebrations

Take Your Relationships To The Next Level In 2012 – One Day Workshop

Posted in Articles, gratitude, happiness, Life Challenges, Perfect Days, Personal Development.

As you know, I’m the founder of Fab Friends Network a self development group for women just like you.  In November, I was delighted to introduce the very gorgeous Diane MacDowall as our speaker.  Di is an insightful and sparkling relationship coach – not only the relationship you share with your partner, but the relationship you have with yourself.  Our morning was full of aha moments and top tips – and for me, quite life changing.   There was so much interest that Diane and her partner Andy Nicholson are going to be running one day workshop – which I know will be off the scale!  Want to know more… keep reading

Relationship Dynamics and Understanding the Male Mind
A One Day Workshop for Women

With Andy Nicholson and Diane MacDowall
Sunday 8th January 2012
9.30am – 4.30pm
Rose and Crown Hotel, Saunderton, near High Wycombe

Being run in conjunction with Ali Soleil of Fab Friends Network

This is a one day workshop for women about relationship dynamics, polarity, masculine and feminine energy and how to understand and communicate effectively with men.

You will discover how to handle your man in a way that melts his heart, and you don’t have to be in a relationship to experience the incredible benefits of this. If you’re currently single, this philosophy will apply to the very next man you date. This is not about controlling or manipulating men, instead, it’s about handling them in a way they adore… there’s a world of difference. One attracts and the other repels.

You will gain insights into how men operate;  how they think, communicate and love, and what they need from a relationship. You will discover how to step into his mind when you speak with him, and communicate in ways that will move him.

A man loves doing things for the lady in his life; this is part of his nature – he is a solution finder. However, there is an art in knowing how to ask, receive and appreciate. Every man has a positive and negative side, just as every woman does, yet women often expect the best from their man without realising the immense part they play how he shows up.

Andy will explain the male perspective; what it means to be a man, how men love to be communicated with, flirted with, handled, and even how best to communicate when anger needs to be released so that they actually listen, rather than disappearing into their cave. He will be happy to answer any questions you may have on the day.

The insights and tools provided on this course will broaden your awareness immensely, helping you understand how you create the relationships around you. You will understand why feminine vulnerability is so attractive when it comes from a place of courage, rather than fear or shame… and why truly ‘vulnerable’ is something a woman can only become when she is at her most loving and strong.

We will share remarkable insights into the dynamics of intimate relationships, including how powerful perception and projection are in your relationships with your partner, family, friends and children. A woman has immense power to positively change the energy in all these relationships.

This workshop will be interactive, intensive, insightful, fun, challenging and supportive. It will be extremely enlightening, offering comprehensive and life-long tools to help you embrace a new and expansive perception on life, men and relationships.

Feedback from previous attendees:

“An excellent day. I learnt so much about myself and others and would highly recommend it!.”

“Although not in a relationship, I can now see why previous ones have failed. I feel ‘armed and ready’ to go into the next one. Learnt a great deal about myself – who I am and who I want to be with. It is good to see a couple like Di and Andy who don’t just ‘talk the talk’ but ‘walk ther walk’ too!  A fantastic day!”

”Di and Andy are a hope and inspiration to all! Love is out there but it is a case of being more aware of the choices you make. I found out so much about myself and my past experiences that it has helped me to see where I am going and where I want to be.  One of the most important lessons from today – Love yourself first!!  A totally awesome day from start to finish. I feel that I have grown emotionally so much and started a journey to a better life full of meaningful relationships.”

“Highly recommended!! 15/10″

The price of the full day workshop is £87

Lunch will not be provided on the day, so we suggest that you bring along a packed lunch or purchase lunch at the Rose and Crown, Wycombe Road, Saunderton, near High Wycombe HP27 9NP. Refreshments and a full workbook will be provided.

Opportunity Knocks – Will You Let It In?

Posted in Goal Setting, happiness, Life Challenges, Networking, Personal Development, self esteem.

When opportunity knocks on your door – what happens for you?

If it’s something you’ve been wanting, you may feel an urge to “woohoo!” I know I do!

But what if it’s an opportunity that feels so fantastic it feels beyond your reach?  What happens then?  When you feel the stretch, do you feel butterflies stirring in your stomach?  The dreaded inner gremlin telling you, you don’t deserve?  A sense of mixed emotion like a tug of war – of wanting but not wanting to fail?   To look stupid or to make a mistake?

Sometimes that old feeling of not feeling quite good enough, or not deserving enough can creep into your thinking and you have to stop in your tracks and ask yourself what is really going on.  Do you do that too?  Sometimes it maybe money; the opportunity is there but money isn’t?  You attract what you focus on – not having enough, means you stay in lack.  When you step up and show up – you grow.  When you embrace opportunity, more opportunities show up and this often includes the money you desire and so on.  ”If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always got.”

What is fear anyway?  A negative emotion, False Evidence Appearing Real?  How real is it?  What I know is, that often it skips along in our minds with the inner gremlin.  It keeps you small, keeps you shrinking, fitting in, and dabbling around the edges of your greatness.

You are here to Shine, to Stand Out, Embrace Life, Make a Difference and Grow!

Does it make you shut out the opportunity?  Or welcome it with open arms?

So, who would you or I be without fear?  How much more could you achieve? How much more could you become?  Enjoy?  Share?  What could taking the the big leap mean to you?  What if you didn’t fail but spectacularly rose to the top?  When we focus on what we want – or what we don’t want, we get it – so when opportunity strikes, grab it, go for it, celebrate it and GROW!

2011 has been a massive year of growth personally for me, how about you?   This year, I’ve been leaping out of my comfort zone, stepping up and achieving so many of my own desires and dreams.  I’ve also had my fair share of knock backs too and I’ve got back up again and brushed myself down. Those lessons have been hugely valuable for me, lessons to do things differently so I’ll get different results next time. Now, when I feel the butterflies of fear creeping in when I’m presented with an opportunity, I remind myself this is just excitement and go for it!  There is nothing to lose and everything to gain.   You’re worth it, right?  Make this lifetime the BEST it can be! :)  Why wouldn’t you?

Love and sunshine

A Late Date With Dr Michael Beckwith

Have you met a hero?  Someone who you just know will blow your socks off?  I was thrilled to see that Dr Michael Beckwith (famed by The Secret) was coming to London and quickly bought a ticket earlier this year.  Michael is such a heart centred man and I knew this was going to be a special meeting.

The thing was… I ended up being just over an hour late!  I know!  Can you believe it?  I used the wrong Sunday time table and arrived as my train pulled out of the station.  I drove to another station and the same thing happened… and had a 30 minute wait – for the slow train… uggghhh… Sometimes you wonder if you’re meant to get somewhere don’t you?  I felt exhausted too after a crazy busy week and now wasn’t feeling too relaxed.  I called my friend who was already there and said – “hmm… I’m thinking somethings telling me not to come?”  All she had to say was ”It’s a test to see how much you really want to be here!”  Nice reframe Darryl!

I waited, caught my train to London, got to the venue and luckily took my place on the front row, whilst Michael sat on stage with his eyes closed as his beautiful wife Rickie, sang an empowering song at the grand piano.

It really was one of the best days ever and I was so glad that I made it in the end – and to have my photo taken with Michael Beckwith along with my friends was such fun.  If you were in my shoes, what would you have done?  Would you have done what it took to get there – or would you have gone home?  It was a great lesson for me and one I’ll remember (and I’ll be more careful with the train time table too!).

I’ve just received a notification from LinkedIn, informing me that someone has left me a recommendation on my profile. Reading it brought tears to my eyes.   Every client I work with is so important to me, so special.   And to receive these words touches my soul.  If you know you’re here for something great, and you’re still trying to find what that is, message me and lets see how I can support you too.

“I can only describe Ali as my own, very special guardian angel. She has helped me to feel great about being “me” and not to be afraid to celebrate my femininity. I always felt safe during my sessions with Ali and knew that she genuinely wanted to help me find me and help me on my way to doing something great on my journey through life. Anyone wanting to truly find themselves and make their heart sing can trust Ali to get them there!”

Have You Said Hello To Your Inner Child Lately?

Posted in gratitude, Life Challenges, Parenting, Perfect Days, Personal Development, self esteem.

Have you enjoyed spending time with children lately?  Isn’t it just wonderful how they see the world and apart from tidying their rooms they find fun in almost anything?

They are playful, using their powerful imagination, they have a sense of wonder, excitement, are open minded, laugh freely and cry freely too!  They love to sing, dance, learn new things and would charge down the high street making silly noises if they felt like it.  They live in the moment most of the time and are freely living their truth.

Have you noticed that once we begin to develop a sense of responsibility passed to us from our families and society there come ‘rules’.  Where does the fun go?  Life is supposed to be fun.

Is it time to connect to your inner child again?  Time to feel free to just be you?  Time to play, to wonder with the eyes of an inquisitive child again?  Make time to laugh and add as much fun into every day as you can.  How can you make a chore a bit more exciting?  How could you see it differently?  What could you do just for fun today?  It could take practice if you’re out of the habit; so choose to consciously make time to just let go and enjoy yourself in this moment.

Thought for today:  I found this quote on a birthday card with a glorious picture of some women holding down their skirts whilst laughing their heads off on a 1950s fairground ride, it said:

“Never put off until tomorrow the fun you can have today.” Aldous Huxley (1894 – 1955)

Wishing you so much happiness

You Are The Miracle!

Posted in Life Challenges, Parenting, Personal Development, self esteem.

What a treat I was given the other day!  I was invited to a girl friend’s house for coffee.  She is taking care of a young girl who had just had the most gorgeous baby.

What a perfect little bundle of joy he is.  His tiny fingers with beautiful nails, his deep sparkling blue eyes opening occasionally to see the world he has just joined, his soft skin and pulled up knees, little gurgling sounds… oh he is just gorgeous!  What a miracle he is.  When you think how the human body can grow and nurture new life – without us having to project manage the 9 months, it really is miraculous.

And once the baby is born everyone coos, smiles, compliments and says what a miracle – don’t you?  So when does it happen then?

When do we stop being the miracle baby and become ‘just’ me?   You are the miracle, you always have been – you always will be.  What new value could you place on your life remembering this?

It really is time to step up out of your comfort zone and embrace the world with new eyes, knowing that you are loved, respected, valued and more than enough already – exciting times!

Quote of the day: “There are two ways to live: you can live as if nothing is a miracle; you can live as if everything is a miracle.” Albert Einstein

Love or Rage Which Would You Choose?

Posted in happiness, Life Challenges, Perfect Days, Personal Development, self esteem.

Have you ever felt like you could self combust with rage?  I know I have.   When things just seem to keep going wrong?  Like the domino effect, one thing triggers the next…. Arrrggghhhh!

Once you find yourself sliding down this slippery pathway to a meltdown it seems the only thing to do is just keep on sliding, doesn’t it?  Saying “I knew that was going to happen”… and it usually does.

This is where things can change.  I can now do it, and I know you can too.

So what is ‘it’?  Well, ‘it’ is love.  Love is the greatest feeling of all wouldn’t you agree?  If you’re feeling love in your heart and body – is it possible to be in a rage at the same time?  I don’t think so.  They are at opposite ends of the emotional spectrum, aren’t they?  You get what you focus on so choose carefully – happiness or anger/frustration?

Rather continuing down the path way to complete meltdown and rage try these 7 tips:

  1. STOP.  Take a moment to acknowledge how you are feeling and focus on your breathing.  Decide to take a few moments out for yourself.
  2. Gain some perspective on the situation.  Is it really as you imagine/find it or is there another way of looking at it?  Could you be kinder to yourself in this moment than you are currently being?
  3. Depending on where you are or what your circumstance continue to focus on your breathing, close your eyes if it is safe to do so… imagine you are breathing in love, imagine seeing the beautiful colours of love being drawn towards you and circulating around your heart, maybe see butterflies and bubbles.
  4. Breathe out all the frustration.
  5. Focus on a better feeling thought – love.  Perhaps someone you love and focus your thoughts on some of the qualities within that person or remember back to a time when you felt so happy, so full of laughter.  Focus on those thoughts for a few moments and allow yourself the time to refocus on positive feelings and thoughts.
  6. Give yourself the gift of a smile and let go.
  7. Relax your tense muscles and open your eyes to a more positive reality.

Quote of the day:  “For every minute you are angry, you lose sixty seconds of happiness.” Author Unknown

Feeling like you could do with some support right now, drop me an email and let’s have a chat?

Have You Watched Sex and The City?

Posted in happiness, Life Challenges, Personal Development, self esteem.

Have you watched first Sex and the City film?  There was one line that I remember so clearly.  The character Samantha was breaking up with her long term boyfriend Smith and uttered these immortal lines “I love you, but I love me more”.

She loved him but she knew in her heart that it wasn’t right and that in order to be true to herself, ended the relationship.

I wonder how many of us live life pleasing others whilst ignoring our inner calling.  Some of us do this in relationships, some in their work… have you done this too?

The other day I heard a lady saying “Secrets are like shadows on the heart”.  Are you living your truth?   When you can be honest with yourself, what do you know is your truth?  When will be the right time to step up out of your comfort zone and into your truth?  Is it too scary to contemplate this alone?  Would it be easier if you had someone to hold your hand and keep you on track?

I am offering a complimentary 30 minute clarity telephone/Skype coaching sessions to 5 ladies who are ready to step into their truth.  If you are ready to gain some clarity, email me with ‘Clarity Session’ in the subject line.  Last time I made an offer the spaces were snapped up quickly, so let me know now if you’d like one! ali@daringdamsels.com

Where Is The Love?

Posted in happiness, Life Challenges, Parenting, Perfect Days, Personal Development, self esteem.

It’s been a great day so far, lots of time to catch up on my business and also to connect with some special friends.  I hope you’re having a good day too!

Something keeps on being said in my head today – which is “Where is the love?” and it’s sung in Justin Timberlake’s voice! ;)   He sang a song with the Black Eyed Peas that has this as its title.  I thought I’d drop you a line and see if it resonates with you.

It ‘should’ all be so simple really, shouldn’t it?  We are love.  We give love.  We love to receive love.  And yet so many of us are pushing against the flow of love and feeling the resistance – which pushes us into a negative state.

When we feel fed up with our children, our partners, our friends, we can so quickly go from 0 – 60 in 5 seconds feeling anger or resentment building up inside of us.  When this happens “where is the love?”  And that’s it really.  Where does it go in that instance?

Listening to some fabulous friends today talking about their situations, I ventured to ask them the question “where is the love?”   It stopped them in their tracks.  If you could take a step away from the situation, take some deep breaths, choose to focus on feeling some love for that person – how could you handle a situation differently?

How about next time your inner gremlin says something unkind – ask yourself the question “where is the love?” (with or without Justin’s voice!)

Quote of the day: “Eventually you will come to understand that love heals everything, and love is all there is.” Gary Zukav

Here it is! Sending you lots of love
